ProjectDevelopment and standardisation of European rain and surface runoff simulators

Basic data

Title:
Development and standardisation of European rain and surface runoff simulators
Duration:
01/01/2023 to 31/12/2024
Abstract / short description:
The project aims at the scientific exchange, binational research cooperation and initiation of joint activities between the Soil Science and Geomorphology Group at the University of Tübingen (UT), Tübingen and the Department of Landscape Water Conservation at Czech Technical University (CTU), Prague in the field of advanced erosion measurements with rainfall simulators. Both institutions have expertise in small-scale (UT) and large-scale (CTU) simulation systems, the combination of which will have a great added value for future projects in the field of erosion research. Special attention will be given to the standardization of the measurement facilities. For this purpose, the two partner institutions will initiate a larger cooperation, for example within the framework of an EU COST Action. A workshop initiated in this way, bringing together the leading European players in erosion research, will be of great interest to the scientific community and the writing of a corresponding proposal is the declared aim of this exchange. Furthermore, a joint study with a comparative view of different aspects of simulated erosion studies will be developed during the project and published in an international journal.
