The Communication Networks group is concerned with the design, performance evaluation, and optimization of communication networks and distributed systems. Main areas are resource management, routing, resilience, scalability, Future Internet, Green IT, mobile communications, vehicular communication systems, and smart grids. The group conducts both basic and applied research, and contributes to the Internet standardization process. The courses offered cover the foundations and the architecture of communication networks as well as methods for assessing the performance of technical systems.
The spin-off Symonics - lead by Dr. Christian Hoene - is collocated with the Communication Networks group.
