Abstract / short description:
The topic of digitization has gained enormous importance in all areas of society. The education sector is thus faced with the challenge of focusing on the acquisition of digital skills by all citizens in order to ensure social participation (e.g., being able to actively master future social challenges). Teachers play a key role in preparing students for a digital, algorithmized world. In order for teachers to successfully fulfill this key role, they must possess comprehensive digital competencies. In Tübingen, an advanced professional development (PD) initiative was launched in which technological as well as subject-specific and media didactic and media educational competencies are systematically promoted in online formats (blended learning). The goal of the PD initiative is to offer a comprehensive and research-based PD concept in the context of digital education for teachers, which includes both a basic offer (Module 1; self-regulated learning in the interactive online propaedeutic) for the broad (OER) as well as hybrid extension offers (Module 2 and 3; testing of digital media in teaching contexts). The PD is designed as a spiral curriculum, in which an increasing subject specificity is realized. The PD is carried out in cooperation with the Zentrum für Schulqualität und Lehrerbildung (Center for School Quality and Teacher Education; zsl-bw.de).
