Title:
Entwicklung eines Verfahrens zur vollständigen Aufbereitung und hochwertigen Verwertung von Boden- und Bauschuttmaterial für ressourcenschonende Baustoffe

Abstract / short description:
In Germany 10 % of the solid waste stream “stones and soils” is recycled and 76 % are backfilled in excavations. In the recycling plant of the company Feess different solid fractions are separated from excavated soil- and stone-mixtures (which are usually used for backfilling of quarries) by soil-washing. Separation and washing produce fine fractions which are usually landfilled in order to remove contaminants from the material stream. In the framework of a DBU-project the recycling rates should be increased and waste disposal should be minimized. Our goal is to evaluate the environmental compatibility with regard to accumulation and potential release of contaminants within the solid matter, the by- and intermediate products and the process water in line with a comprehensive treatment of solids in the soil washing plant.
