Abstract / short description:
The KANSAS develops, tests, and evaluates a competence-adaptive,
user-oriented search engine for authentic language learning texts. The
practical goal of KANSAS is to support teachers in literacy and basic
education courses in finding language materials on the Internet and in
electronic text collections (corpora) that are appropriate in
linguistic complexity given the language competence of the course
participants and reflect their thematic interests. The high
flexibility of KANSAS with regard to the language aspcts being
targeted enables its use by a broad range of teachers, from literacy
education contexts to German as a second or foreign language.
