Molekulare Analyse bakterieller Effektoren, die durch Manipulation des Phosphatmangelprogramms von Wirtspflanzen ihre Virulenz erhöhen, aber auch Immunantworten auslösen

Abstract / short description:
The manipulation of essential micronutrients in plants by microbial pathogens is increasingly
appreciated as a crucial battleground between host and microbe, although the underlying
processes are not well understood. This project builds in an innovative and insightful way on
previous evidence mostly from other groups that bacteria and fungi interfere in various ways with
plant host phosphate provision and storage. Specifically the project aims to investigate how
precisely a delivered bacterial (Xanthomonas vesicatoria) pathogen effector XopH, a known InsPmodifying
phosphatase (phytase) and other XopH-like effectors (EPAs), manipulate plant host
inositol phosphase (InsP) metabolism, how this relates to the effector suppression of PTI, and how
the InsP targeting is sensed by an XopH-recognizing NLR (Bs7).
