Title:
Impact of neuromicrobiota in diabetic foot ulcers (DFU)
Duration:
01/04/2024 to 31/03/2027
Abstract / short description:
In collaboration with the University of Tübingen, Dpt. Traumatology, SWI, BG Clinic, we are investigating the role of bacterial neurotransmitters in the development and progression of DFU and DFU-associated peripheral neuropathy (DPN). The project is of great scientific relevance and has the potential for clinical application if bacterial-derived neurotransmitters are found to have an impact on wound healing and the progression of DFU.
