Title:
DZIF-IT Platform TI BBD, iDEx, GirOD
Duration:
01/07/2022 to 30/06/2024
Abstract / short description:
Translational medical research increasingly requires and generates very large amounts of data, especially in the area of epidemiological and clinical (meta-)data as well as OMICs datasets. TI BBD has been commissioned by the DZIF Executive Board to establish an IT and data platform for the DZIF-wide exchange of bioresources, biodata and bioinformatics tools and workflows and to make it available to all scientists. Our vision is to enable an efficient and scientific exchange of and access to biomaterials, biodata (with meta- and study data), (digital) tools, documents and templates for analysis and study planning within the DZIF through standardization, methodological support and the creation of a digital platform. In this way, DZIF-funded resources such as biospecimens, master collections, tools and generated data will be registered, collected and made available to all DZIF researchers for use under fair and transparent usage rules (FAIR criteria). The platform will ensure the structured exchange of resources and data with external partners such as other DZG, NFDI, NUM or MI-I. Together with the structures iDEx and GirOD, which were established in 2019, the project will enable the linking and integration of IT structures that have emerged in parallel at DZIF and ensure improved and more transparent handling of data of scientific interest in the future. Focal points are the harmonization and standardization of metadata (which will be combined in a Metadata Repository (MDR)), the integration of collaborations with various national networks and activities, the establishment and provision of a web portal with search function and the provision of resources for all DZIF scientists, as well as the integration of the iDEx and GirrOD projects and the joint further development to link genomic and clinical data.
