We aim to obtain a mechanistic understanding of how ERECTA/YODA MAP kinase signaling establishes different cell identities in the daughter cells of the first zygotic division. This has general implications to the question how receptor kinase/MAP kinase signaling controls cell identities in meristematic cells.
