Title:
Altern an der Schnittstelle von HIV und springender genetischer Elemente
Duration:
01/01/2022 to 31/12/2025
Abstract / short description:
"This project is part of the CRC 1508 "Aging at Interfaces" and studies the determinants of transposable element (TE) activation upon viral infection and the downstream effects on cellular senescence and aging-associated gene expression. We will combine global RNA and ATAC sequencing approaches with detailed mechanistic analyses to decipher the regulatory network of TEs that is activated upon viral infection and its impact on senescence and exhaustion of infected cells. The findings will not only provide important insights into aging at the interface of HIV and transposable elements, but also help to understand the contribution of TE activation observed in other senescence-associated disorders."
