ProjectTP2 SAM in Maize – Regulierung der Struktur und Funktion des sprossnahen Meristems von Mais
Basic data
Acronym:
TP2 SAM in Maize
Title:
Regulierung der Struktur und Funktion des sprossnahen Meristems von Mais
Duration:
01/02/2022 to 31/01/2026
Abstract / short description:
The shoot apical meristem (SAM) positioned at the plant’s growing shoot tip harbours a population of pluripotent stem cells. These serve as a persistent source of cells for postembryonic growth and organogenesis. This project uses a combination of genomic and developmental approaches to discern regulatory networks underlying SAM structure and function in maize. SAM architecture influences a number of agronomically-important adult plant traits, an understanding of the genetic basis for SAM structure and function, may thus engender the informed enhancement of breeding varieties.
