Title:
Wirt gegen Virus- Mechanismen der Immunabwehr beim Menschen und virale Gegenstrategien
Duration:
01/12/2020 to 31/12/2024
Abstract / short description:
The Heisenberg program comprises three projects that aim at improving our understanding of the antiviral immune responses and the mechanisms that viruses have evolved to evade or counteract them. Projects I and II focus on posttranslational mechanisms, elucidating the role of proteolytic protein processing and ubiquitination/NEDDylation/ISGylation in the interplay of viruses with their hosts. These analyses are complemented by project III, which focuses on the regulation of immune responses by endogenous retroelements at the transcriptional level.
