Antrag auf Förderung der Etablierung einer OJS1-Publikationsplattform zum Betrieb der Online-Open Access-Zeitschrift Colour Turn
Duration:
01/12/2021 to 01/12/2023
Abstract / short description:
The phenomenon of colour poses enormous challenges for both the protagonists of basic research and those of application-oriented research. On the one hand, advanced colour research is not meaningful without interdisciplinary cooperation. On the other hand, there are so many different actors and approaches internationally that it becomes difficult to gain a representative insight. Despite a lot of research efforts and findings, there are many research gaps and open questions; starting with colour perception and signal processing in the brain, and extending to cultural contexts and individual colour preferences. Colour Turn, an open access journal founded in August of 2019, opens up the possibility to address new research topics and approaches on an editorially processed publication platform.
Colour Turn is at the end of a one-and-a-half-year conception and testing phase. The DFG-funding of a two-year piloting phase is intended to systematically develop and expand the journal and establish it in the colour research landscape. This includes the optimization of editorial processes and the implementation of new software. The following tasks are planned to be completed during the funding phase:
- Establishment of the journal as an open access format for interdisciplinary colour research
- Further development of the standardised, transparent evaluation procedure for contributions according to the rules of good scientific practice
- International visibility through articles in English in combination with multilingual abstracts and keyword lists
- Simplified access to scientific publication opportunities for young researchers
- Promotion of science communication
- Free access to research results for all interested readers
