Abstract / short description:
Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances (PFAS) have become widely used in the environment and in humans due to their unique properties and widespread application. In addition to human exposure, the use of PFASs in consumer products is also highly problematic from a circular economy perspective. Many everyday products are transformed into other products in recycling processes or ultimately end up in the environment via landfilling. Through transformation processes of polyfluorinated precursors, perfluorinated transformation products (TPs) thus appear in many areas. To better understand the relevance of consumer products on human exposure and the environment, the proposed research project will develop a method for the release of PFAA and other perfluorinated TP in combination with non-target screening (NTS) and apply it to relevant consumer products.
