Abstract / short description:
A central component of UNESCO World Heritage Sites is their exemplary role with regard to Sustainable Development. This practice-oriented project focuses on how the target dimensions of Sustainable Development in the sense of Agenda 2030/SDGs can be implemented and evaluated at UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The project run by the Competence Centre for Sustainable Development (KNE/CCSD) takes place in cooperation with the State Office for Monument Preservation Baden-Württemberg and focuses on the "Caves and Ice Age Art of the Swabian Alb", which have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2017. Within the framework of the project, an analysis of current sustainability activities and a feasibility study will be carried out - in close cooperation with local practitioners - and proposals for anchoring sustainable development in the management plan and for monitoring will be developed.
