Title:
Supernova-Überreste im eROSITA All-Sky Survey
Duration:
31/03/2021 to 31/03/2021
Abstract / short description:
This project is part of a DFG research unit to study endpoints of stellar evolution in our Galaxy and in the Magellanic Clouds, using data that are produced by the currently ongoing eROSITA all-sky survey. The eROSITA telescope on-board the SRG satellite performs an all-sky survey in the soft X-ray band, with unprecedented spatial and spectral resolution as well as sensitivity. The data will permit to obtain a census of the Galactic X-ray-emitting supernova remnants. Given the increased sensitivity and extended energy range compared to ROSAT, new remnants will be discovered with potentially new properties. The aim of the project here is to specifically study the aspect of cosmic ray acceleration in these supernova remnants.
