Abstract / short description:
In the joint project LeNa Shape, a novel and complex research structure is being implemented to investigate how the principle of "research in societal responsibility" changes research processes and projects in terms of quality, impact and motivation of researchers. In the LeNa Value module, the Ethics Centre of the University of Tübingen (IZEW) works primarily on the theoretical and ethical foundations of science. This includes a historical outline and the systematic consolidation of debates on fundamental as well as controversial questions of ethics in the sciences and humanities, especially with regard to the linking of epistemological and ethical dimensions of research. In the process, possible approaches to solutions in current controversies on transformative or catalytic, transdisciplinary, sustainable, responsible etc. science will be developed. This contributes significantly to the joint development of well-founded criteria for the quality of research ("excellence") as well as a methodology (metrics and indicators) for the analysis of the impact of research on the realisation of a more sustainable global development.
