Duration:
12/11/2021 to 13/11/2021
Abstract / short description:
Rethinking Responsibility: Anthropology - Intergenerational Responsibility - Advanced Technologies
The international and interdisciplinary conference "Rethinking Responsibility" organized by the Institute of Ethics (Prof. Dr. Elisabeth Gräb-Schmidt) focuses on the concept of responsibility. New technological developments challenge the traditional retrospective and actor-based concept of responsibility. Focusing on the paradigmatic area of machine learning, the anthropological foundation of the concept of responsibility is questioned along the lines of intergenerational responsibility. In order to maintain the concept of responsibility as a guiding concept for action, an appropriate and open reflection is required, which can both grasp individual responsibility in terms of the theory of justification and legitimise legal approaches.
