Title:
Gefährdungsbeurteilung von Steharbeit - Erweiterung, Validierung und Optimierung eines gesundheitsbasierten Risikoindexes zur Beurteilung arbeitsbedingter Stehexposition
Duration:
01/02/2020 to 31/01/2023
Abstract / short description:
Based on the project "Entwicklung eines Risikoindexes zur Bewertung und Gestaltung von Steharbeitsplätzen auf Basis physiologischer Kenngrößen" (2015 - 2018), which was funded by the "Berufsgenossenschaft, Handel und Warenlogistik" the developed risk index for the evaluation of standing workstations shall be expanded, validated and, if necessary, adjusted/optimised.
Project phase I (duration: 16 months): Currently, the risk index is designed exclusively to predict the health risk of standing work with exposure modification due to walking. The extension of the risk index includes aspects that could not be addressed in the previous project. These are possible risk modifications by exposure modifications with seated work and by load handling.
Project phase 2 (duration approx. 21 months): In the second project phase, the risk index will be validated in a cross-sectional study including about 600 employees. The risk of vein and musculo-skeletal disorders of employees with standing jobs will be classified by means of the risk index. For a valid classification, standing, walking and sitting proportions, which must be entered into the matrix of the risk index, are measured with actigraphs (movement activity). In addition, an assessment of the movement activity is carried out by the employees themselves. This enables a comparison between objective and subjective classification. A supplementary survey on work history will be used to estimate how long employees have been exposed to the current risk area. In a medical examination of these employees, vein status and musculoskeletal complaints are recorded. The data analysis then compares the extent to which vein and musculoskeletal disorders are actually prevalent when the expected health risk is high (determined by the risk index).
Project phase 3 (duration 4 months): Here an optimisation of the risk index is planned, so that a better prediction of health risks from standing work is possible. This projects provides a link of the estimated health risk by the risk index with (cross-sectional) measured risks of illness and actual standing work conditions.
