Abstract / Kurz- beschreibung:
This research statement is directed to the study of the influence of the gravitational fields of black holes on quantum systems, dynamics and stability of black holes and neutron stars, gravitational waves sources, and the active and passive fluctuations of spacetime geometry. We will consider the classical background of an astrophysical black hole and then quantize the matter fields. This study can also be made for a larger gravitational system, such as a black hole with a cosmic string, or a global monopole as well as for an analogue gravity model, such as an acoustic black hole.
The justification for a project of this nature is linked to the fact that these studies may shed some light on the physics of black holes and compact objects, and they can indicate a possible path to the construction of a quantum theory of gravity. Moreover, the studies that will be done involving analogue models of gravity and optical systems will provide the possibility, in principle, of testing in the laboratory some kinds of effects whose nature is unquestionably associated with purely quantum effects of gravity.
