Title:
Enhancing the Recovery of Carbon as Valuable Biochemicals from Organic Wastes using Thermophilic Microbes and Novel Reactor
Duration:
01/04/2020 to 31/03/2022
Abstract / short description:
The conversion of organic wastes, including industrial wastewaters, into valuable products got a boost after it became clear that chain elongation of the carbon chains of carboxylic acids is possible with open cultures (microbiomes). However, until now mesophilic temperatures (30-35 degrees C) need to be used, and this project will study, as a collaborative project, whether thermophilic temperatures could be a feasible alternative.
