GLIOPT – Gliompatienten in der ambulanten Versorgung - Optimierung der psycho-sozialen Versorgung bei neuroonkologischen Patienten
Duration:
01/06/2019 to 30/11/2021
Abstract / short description:
Objective: Patients with intracranial tumors especially with malignant gliomas show a high level of depressive symptoms and psychosocial distress. Assessment in these patients remains challenging due to cognitive and/or neurological deficits. The aim is to optimize assessment via adaption of methods for glioma patients.
Methods: 13 centres validate 3 former developed signaling questions in by a cluster randomized study design. In the intervention arm, the clinician asks the patient directly, in the control arm standard methds are applied: patients fill in the Distress Thermometer (DT), a screening instrument.
Potential: If the health care of glioma patients improves by direct assessment, all neuro-oncologists may be able to implement the signaling questions into clinical routine. The study simulates the clinical situation by the cluster randomized study design. Longterm, results and method could be applicable also for other tumor entities.
