Title:
Untersuchungen zur antiviralen und immunmodulatorischen Aktivität von MEK-Inhibitoren bei Virusinfektionen
Duration:
01/03/2019 to 31/03/2021
Abstract / short description:
The aim of the following project is to investigate the antiviral effect of MEK inhibitors against various viral infections (influenza virus, hantavirus RSV, rhinovirus, adenovirus). This will be correlated to the immunomodulatory properties of the MEK inhibitors. It is known that the Raf/MEK/ERK signaling pathway is involved in the regulation of cytokine expression. Furthermore, it inhibits the stimulation of regulatory T cells and induces a shift from TH2 to TH1. Therefore, the influence of this immunomodulation on the clinical course, especially in the mouse model of influenza, will be investigated.
