ProjectR-Net – DZIF core network for the study of multidrug-resistant bacterial organisms
Basic data
Acronym:
R-Net
Title:
DZIF core network for the study of multidrug-resistant bacterial organisms
Duration:
01/01/2019 to 31/12/2020
Abstract / short description:
To investigate the effect of various interventions aimed at limiting the spread of MDRO infections (including infection prevention and control, decolonization, antimicrobial stewardship (ABS), and the development of new antimicrobials active against MDRO), key epidemiological, microbiological, and clinical background data on multi-drug resistant pathogens will be collected longitudinally over a period of 4 years at 6 DZIF partner sites in R-Net. R-Net is a network that will form an anchoring point for HAARBI projectsABSOLUTE („Antibiotic Stewardship and Infection Control in Patients at High Risk of Developing Infection by C. difficile, Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococci or Multi-Resistant Gram-Negatives), NoSPREAD („Preventing the spread of MDRO“), and BLOOMY-PREDICT („Bloodstream infections due to multidrug-resistant organisms“).Specifically, the influx of MDROs into the hospital setting, the burden of MDROs among bloodstream infections, the burden of Clostridium difficile infection, antimicrobial consumption and the contribution of nosocomial cross-transmission and resistance development will be assessed. Knowledge of these baseline resistance and infection surveillance data is key to identification of hotspots that require increased attention from infection control. It is also vital in guiding AMS strategies in empirical treatment settings.
