Title:
Transnational social protection in the EU: the role of third sector organisiations
Duration:
01/03/2019 to 30/06/2021
Abstract / short description:
More and more people lead trans-national lives. Access to social protection at the same time remains largely tied to state boundaries. The proposed research seeks to examine the seemingly growing role of third sector organisations in providing social protection to migrant groups with little or no access to regular social protection in different welfare states. Exploring these developments is important not only to understand how growing numbers of persons with limited or no access to standard social security in Europe are protected, but also to examine possible institutional changes taking place. Through a qualitative cross-country analysis, based on survey, interview and document research, the proposed research project will contribute to both migration and comparative welfare state research.
