Title:
Braunsbach after 2016: Identify, communicate and tackle risk and vulnerabilities to flash flooding in small catchments
Duration:
01/06/2018 to 31/03/2019
Abstract / short description:
To better understand the rational for the actions taken in the case of Braunsbach as well as the drivers and barriers to identify, communicate and tackle vulnerabilities to the flash flood hazard in small catchments, we propose a trans-disciplinary workshop that brings together the experts that have evaluated the hazard and adaptation measures and the practitioners who planned and implemented these measures. The discourse will be recorded and analyzed from a social science perspective. The analysis focuses on the
rational for the chosen adaptation responses as well as the factors that drove and hindered implemented and planned efforts to build community resilience. The lessons learned from this analysis could be applied to improve the decision making process after flash flood occurrence, but also to guide possible prevention measures in small catchments with similar characteristics as the Orlacher Bach and Grimmbach.
