Tagung Pragmatische Funktionen von Typ-Substantiven

Taxonomic nouns, in particular the cognates of type, have adopted a great variety of pragmatic functions such as approximation, exemplification, mitigation, quotatitve marking, focussing, and discourse structuring. Strikingly, in the past few years, the absolute and relative chronology of the evolution of these markers has been described as being almost identical in several Romance, Germanic and Slavic languages. The aim of the workshop is to offer a platform for discussion and synthesis bringing together linguistics working on this international phenomenon in different languages.
