Abstract / short description:
Robust solutions to complex learning and inference problems are sparse and the mammalian brain is currently the only existing proof that a system with such a high level of robustness and flexibility can exist. However, it is not clear how to use the mammalian brain as a model to improve current machine learning algorithms. The goal of this Junior Research Group is to develop novel architectures and learning paradigms in machine learning that are inspired by cortical principles.
