Title:
Belastbarkeit von Palacos-Zementspacern nach Knieprothesenausbau
Duration:
01/08/2017 to 31/07/2018
Abstract / short description:
The aim of this biomechanical in-vitro study is to determine the loading capacity of dynamic cement spacers (from Palacos). The two-stage revision represents the current gold standard for treating infected total knee replacement implants. Muscle loss and soft tissue retraction during the time between procedures are common and prolong the second-stage procedure. Dynamic spacers help overcome those drawbacks and facilitate re-implantation. In this study, a test of the spacers, implanted into cadaveric knee specimens, is to determine the maximum loading allowable such that the spacer and/or the underlying bone surface can still maintain their structural and functional integrity.
