Abstract / short description:
Akt is a transducer kinase which acts as a signaling component for cell survival and DNA repair. On the basis of previous results indicating a defined role of Akt in regulating DNA double-strand breaks through the non-homologous end-joining mechanism, the current project will analyse the potential influence and regulatory function of Akt in the control of the homologous recombination process, which is the second mechanism for DNA-double-strand breaks in eukaryotic cells.
