Title:
Alexander von Humboldt fellowship on microstructural modelling
Duration:
01/06/2016 to 30/11/2017
Abstract / short description:
Strain in rocks is often localised in shear zones or mylonites that accommodate a significant portion of the deformation during plate motions and mountain building. This project will use numerical modelling to investigate which structures form in shear zones and how these structures can be used to quantify the amount of this deformation.
