Degenerations, Realizations and Correspondence Theorems in Tropical Geometry

The present proposal is devoted to tropical algebraic geometry, a field of intensive study over the last decade. The growing interest and rapid development of tropical algebraic geometry has largely been stimulated by a wide range of its applications from string theory to computational biology. The focus of the proposed research will be on the correspondence between tropical and algebraic varieties which serves, for example, as the core of the most spectacular and valuable manifestation of tropical geometry: in the application of tropical geometry to complex and real enumerative geometry, notably to the computation and study of Gromov-Witten and Welschinger invariants.
