Abstract / short description:
Development of therapies for HSP and PLS faces a multitude of clinical, regulatory and commercial challenges due to the rarity and genetic heterogeneity of these diseases. We propose to form a multinational Alliance for Treatment in HSP and PLS between leading national HSP/PLS networks with the overarching aim to systematically address these challenges and foster development of new treatments for HSP and PLS.
Specific aims:
1. To establish a global collaborative network (Alliance for Treatment in HSP and PLS) between major national HSP/PLS initiatives, including networks across Canada, Europe, and the US.
2. To create a global HSP/PLS Registry that connects existing registries under one umbrella.
3. To collaborate with patient-driven HSP/PLS foundations and advocacy groups to support establishment of a global HSP/PLS Patient Registry.
4. 4. To create a ‘Trial ready’ infrastructure for HSP and PLS
