This is a multicenter (5 study centers), randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blinded clinical trial to evaluate the safety and efficacy of prefrontal transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) in patients with major depression. In this study tDCS is an adjunctive treatment to a stable antidepressant medication with a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) which has not led to sufficient clinical improvement.
