ProjectINSTANT – Innovative Sensor for the fast Analysis of Nanoparticles in Selected Target Products

Basic data

Acronym:
INSTANT
Title:
Innovative Sensor for the fast Analysis of Nanoparticles in Selected Target Products
Duration:
01/03/2012 to 31/08/2015
Abstract / short description:
INSTANT started within the EU-Call FP7-NMP.2011.1.3-1 on March 1st and are facing the challenge of detecting, identifying and quantifying engineered nanoparticles (ENPs) in complex matrices. 5 SMEs together with 3 universities and the BAM will develop an innovative, cost effective, and easy to use analytical tool to extract, detect and identify ENPs typically used in cosmetic products (e.g. sunscreen, toothpaste, deodorant, ...) and engineered food (e.g. instant soups, ketchup, ice cream, ...) and drinks (e.g. fruit juice, energy drinks, bottled water, ...). studies. In the focus are recently emerging ENPs like Ag, SiO2, TiO2, ZnO, and organic NPs. They monitor the exposure of consumers to ENPs using a label free opto-electrochemical sensor array in combination with novel recognition elements like molecular imprinted polymers or nanotubes.
