Abstract / short description:
Saving energy plays nowadays a more and more important role in all fields of society. Hence, lowering the operation temperature of semiconducting metaloxides for the detection of harmful gases, new p-type semiconductors as potentials candidates for sensing materials were prepared, characterized and tested. Concerning selectivity and sensitivity at quite low temperature (50°C in comparison to normal operation temperature of semiconducting metaloxide gassensors being around 200-400°C) CuO showed an applicable behavior in the detection of nitrogen oxides. Accordingly the latter material is an interesting candidate for a sensing material at low temperature in Microsystems which will be in the framework of a common EU project modified, integrated and tested.
