Good work or cost-cutting measure? New Work and desk sharing at the university

As an organization with multiple functional systems and loose coupling, the university
represents a particularly challenging field of study for transformation processes. The
proposed research project aims to examine the introduction and implementation of "New
Work" concepts at a German university, using the University of Tübingen as an example.
The focus here is on the introduction of desk sharing with digitized
infrastructure in three different pilot departments at the University of Tübingen. The
research project will analyze the effects of the
restructuring processes resulting from the introduction of desk sharing concepts on the
working conditions, opportunities for participation, and mental and physical health
of employees in the pilot departments.
