ProjectAbfall-KI – Sorting waste streams during the tipping process using multispectral imaging
Basic data
Acronym:
Abfall-KI
Title:
Sorting waste streams during the tipping process using multispectral imaging
Duration:
24/03/2025 to 23/10/2025
Abstract / short description:
The aim of the project is to develop an innovative system for the real-time analysis of waste for recycling during the unloading process in order to enable the efficient identification and separation of recyclable materials and contaminants after the unloading process.
The use of a multispectral camera system and corresponding AI-supported data analysis should make it possible to precisely identify recyclable materials and distinguish them from contaminants. The information obtained is used to categorise the material and enable a targeted decision to be made on how the material flow should be further processed. This leads to optimised sorting and a higher yield of recyclable materials.
