Abstract / short description:

In the project NEURODIET, we aim to identify the molecular mechanisms by which different diets influence the pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases. In the subproject in Tübingen, we will investigate the effect of specific diets on the hereditary neurodegenerative disease spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3). The knowledge gained in this project can be used to develop specific dietary recommendations for patients with neurodegenerative diseases and to make general recommendations on how to counteract neurodegenerative diseases by means of specific dietary strategies.
