Tailor-made counseling: Impact factors of digital counseling in the context of an evaluation of ISES! Online training for parents of young people with internet addiction

When teenagers or young adults lose control over their internet use, the whole family often suffers. Parents can learn how to influence this situation, for example as part of the online training course ISES! (Internet addiction: empowering parents!). The training is aimed at parents whose adolescent or young adult children (approx. 12-21 years) show symptoms of computer game addiction or addiction to social networks. The online training was evaluated as part of the project. For this purpose, a randomized controlled trial was conducted with a waiting group and three intervention groups. The intervention groups differed in terms of the opportunities for counseling within the training.
