Basic data
Title:
Islamic Spiritual Care. Interdisciplinary Structure and Fields of Practice in Germany
Duration:
01/03/2025 to 31/03/2026
Abstract / short description:
The research project consists of a theoretical and an empirical part.
In the theoretical part, the project aims to address the question of the interdisciplinary organisation of Islamic pastoral care. In the empirical part, the project aims to determine which competences, challenges and perspectives are required or offered by the fields of action (hospitals, prisons, the military, schools and refugees) of Islamic spiritual care.
The scientific potential of this study lies not only in the fact that - for the first time in the German context - it provides access to important fields of action and develops a contemporary, European contextualised understanding of Islamic pastoral care and practical concepts from the traditions of Islam, which are always linked to tradition and practice, , but above all in the fact that the research project recognises the current need, addresses questions that urgently need to be discussed and thus aims to present potential standard workbook of the young discipline.
