China: Knowns and Unknowns

The China Centre Tübingen imparts knowledge about China and China expertise in numerous faculties at the University of Tübingen and transfers China-knowledge into society at large. However, the focus on imparting knowledge about China or so-called 'China-Kompetenz' also poses a challenge. Even people who have acquired knowledge about China, and even Sinologists and China experts, have to deal with unknowns when dealing with China. It is therefore just as important to acquire skills to cope with ignorance when dealing with China as it is to acquire knowledge about China.
