Abstract / short description:
As part of the proposed joint project "Financial Literacy App – Bridging the Gap for Marginalized Adolescents (FiLapp)," the development of a mobile assessment tool for evaluating and promoting financial literacy among disadvantaged adolescents is proposed. Disadvantage is characterized by a low socio-economic status (lower quartile) and/or low general skills (literacy, numeracy). The goal is to diagnose and foster everyday financial literacy in this target group by developing a differentiated competency model and practical test scenarios based on an in-depth domain analysis, which will be validated through a large-scale study.
Everyday financial literacy includes the skills and attitudes relevant to everyday financial problem-solving and decision-making situations. The project focuses on creating a smartphone-compatible and action-oriented assessment format to enhance accessibility and motivation for the target group. Based on the main study data, the assessment will be expanded to include automated feedback, enabling it to be used as a formative assessment tool for promoting financial literacy. After the funding phase, the assessment environment and developed scenarios, along with supplementary didactic materials, will be made available to educational practitioners as Open Educational Resources.
