Title:
Evaluation of financial education interventions across the lifespan - Sub-project Tuebingen
Duration:
01/10/2024 to 30/09/2027
Abstract / short description:
The joint project EvaFin investigates whether, to what extent, for whom, under what conditions, and how financial education interventions can contribute to effectively and sustainably support-ing the development of financial literacy and its transfer into financial behavior (overcoming the attitude-behavior gap). In cooperation with partners from practice, a theoretically and methodo-logically sound evaluation concept is being developed to answer these questions. This concept will be applied to 12 financial education programs, which target people at different educational stages or life phases. The execution of the 12 evaluations will lead directly to insights about the quality and potential improvements of the included financial education offerings. The project thus contributes to enhancing the evidence base of financial education in Germany. Additional-ly, the results allow for a nuanced understanding of the causal relationships (especially condi-tions for success and mechanisms of effect) of financial education interventions, which have been little researched so far. The project thereby makes a substantial contribution to the inter-national research context, as there are no systematic investigations of these aspects beyond the evaluation of individual measures.
