ProjectNachwuchsgruppe “Computational Drug Development”
Basic data
Title:
Nachwuchsgruppe “Computational Drug Development”
Duration:
01/04/2024 to 31/03/2029
Abstract / short description:
The development of novel antiinfectives is highly relevant given the increasing development of antibiotic resistance. A promising alternative to classical antibiotics are inhibitors of pathogenicity factors, so-called pathoblockers, that specifically block the pathogenicity of bacterial pathogens while sparing the beneficial microbiota. It is anticipated that pathoblocker are in particular useful for the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal infections as a therapy with antibiotics is often contraindicated due to the role the microbiota plays in the development of these infections. The task of the junior research group “Computational Drug Discovery” will be to discover and develop small molecule inhibitors of bacterial pathogenicity factors by using state-of-the-art computational methods.
