Local Co-adaptation of Plants and Their Microbiota to Climatic Stress
Duration:
01/09/2024 to 31/08/2028
Abstract / short description:
The project "Local Co-adaptation of Plants and Their Microbiota to Climatic Stress" is part of the PlantsCoChallenge consortium, which investigates plant adaptation to combined abiotic and biotic stresses across various environments. This interdisciplinary research unit explores plant stress responses at multiple organizational levels, integrating the role of microbiota in stress resistance. The project focuses on understanding the local adaptation of Cakile maritima (sea rocket) and its associated microbiota in response to climatic stresses such as heat and drought across Europe. It aims to investigate genetic variation and adaptive traits in sea rocket populations, exploring how these traits influence and are influenced by interactions with microbial communities. By studying plant-microbe interactions, the project seeks to uncover the mechanisms underlying stress resistance and adaptation in different environmental conditions. This research involves close collaboration with other projects to explore multi-stress responses and integrate metabolomic and microbiome data. Ultimately, it contributes to a broader understanding of plant adaptation and resilience in changing climates.
