Title:
GENETIC FRONTOTEMPORAL DEMENTIA INITIAVE FOR NEURODEVELOPMENT
Duration:
28/03/2024 to 31/03/2027
Abstract / short description:
This is an international multi-centre cohort study of first and second degree family members of individuals who carry FTD mutations in MAPT, GRN or C9ORF72 repeat expansions for youths between the ages 9-17.
Primary objectives:
To determine whether youths between the ages of 9 and 17 who carry FTD mutations in MAPT, GRN, or C9orf72 repeat expansions show differences compared to age matched non-carriers at baseline and over two year interval follow ups:
1) Brain development as measured by structural and functional MRI
2) Functional outcomes indexed by developmental history, behavioural and cognitive assessments
Exploratory outcome measure:
1) Fluid biomarkers of synaptic markers, axonal markers, and neuroinflammation markers
