Title:
Borylenes as transient intermediates and stabilized by bis(tetrylene) ligands
Duration:
01/01/2024 to 31/12/2026
Abstract / short description:
In a joint project of the Bettinger and Wesemann working groups chemistry of low valent borylenes in matrices and solution as well as stabilized in bis(tetrylene) chelates is being explored. In a close exchange between the working groups the syntheses of the compounds are carried out. Under cryogenic conditions and in solution the reactivity of the transient borylenes and the tetrylen adducts of borylenes is investigated. The electronic structure of the low valent boron compounds and the mechanisms of their reactions is elaborated using quantum chemical calculations and discussed in an intense collaboration between the working groups. By combining the complementary approaches similarities and differences in reactivity of free borylenes and relatively weakly stabilized bis(tetrylene) adducts of borylenes are identified and further developed.
