Basic data

Title:
CZS - Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Law
Duration:
01/01/2024 to 31/12/2031
Abstract / short description:
Understanding the reciprocal implications between artificial
intelligence (AI) and law has become pivotal for the
societal acceptance of AI and for the future development of
AI based solutions to societal problems. Scientific progress
at this intersection hinges on frameworks for
interdisciplinary research. While computer science
researchers and lawyers have become aware of their
interdependencies in the realm of AI, it is difficult to
perform and sustain collaborative work due to the
idiosyncratic research approaches of both fields. The
CZS-Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Law
constitutes a strong institutional framework in which highly
qualified researchers from both disciplines can engage in a
dialogue and explore interdisciplinary challenges of the
future role of AI in a legal society.
