Abstract / short description:
A new approach to paediatric intensive care - Avoidance of Post Intensive Care Syndrome in critically ill children and their families" was selected for funding by the Innovation Fund. The aim of the project is to improve the outcomes of children requiring treatment in intensive care units by introducing various standardized, evidence-based methods in an interprofessional team with the involvement of parents. This refers to short-term outcomes in children (length of stay, ventilation time, reduction of delirium etc.) and their families, as well as medium- and long-term physical, cognitive, psychological and social outcomes in the context of Post Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS). The multicenter study under the consortium leadership of the UKT and with the participation of several university locations in Baden-Württemberg is funded with a volume of almost 10 million euros. The IAIV is conducting the evaluation together with other partners from biometry, nursing science and health economics.
